Agora falta saber o conteúdo do jogo... features mais concretas!

Your ship is your home. Build it to last. Choose from an almost endless combination of weapons, mining equipment, ship hulls, power plants, shields, radars and many other types of equipment. Build a powerful long range killing machine, armed with a huge array of missiles and devastating plasma guns. Outfit your small maneuverable ship with quick fire machine guns to tear holes through any enemy and then disappear in a flash. Modify your massive hauler to carry your fortune across space; then get the best engines money can buy so that you can amass your fortune more quickly.

parece-me bem, nada que não tenhamos visto no EvE!

Nations

Since the Shift, three powers have come to dominate the Skein. While there are a handful of neutral stations and asteroid colonies, most settlers owe allegiance to one of these nations. There may be other inhabited worlds beyond the Edge, waiting to be discovered; but for the moment, these are the dominant powers of the Skein.

* The Solrain Commonwealth
* The Quantar Paths
* The Octavian Empire

The Solrain Commonwealth:

Once a benevolent mercantile state, the Solrain Commonwealth has been corrupted by greed and the thirst for power. Corporate powers rebuilt Solrain society after the devastating Shift, and today it's difficult to tell the difference between the corporations that maintain the global infrastructure and the criminal organizations that lie just below the surface. This has created a culture of cynics and opportunists – mercenaries, smugglers, and privateers searching for new ways to make a profit. While it is a no place for the altruist, the Commonwealth is filled with opportunities for those with courage and skill to seize them. And beneath the cold veneer, there are a few hidden heroes – idealists who oppose the corporate powers and struggle to restore Solrain virtue.

The Quantar Paths:

Outsiders often scoff at Quantar mysticism, but faith has sustained the Quantar people through many trials. In the wake of the Shift and corruption in the world gone before, the Quantar have splintered; there are over a dozen Quantar paths, each with a different view of the universal truth. They are united by the fundamental belief that human destiny lies among the stars, and that the Skein itself will guide the thoughts of any pilot who learns to listen. The Quantar construct their ships according to spiritual principles, and they believe that the pilot and ship become a single being. While few outsiders take these ideas seriously, there is no question that the Quantar are gifted pilots. This may simply be the result of being raised among the asteroids and having learned to dodge rock as children. Or it may be that the prophets speak the truth, and that it is the Skein that flows through the hands of the helmsman.

The Octavian Empire:

Founded by soldiers and preserved by military discipline and devotion to the art of war, the Octavian Empire is an army as much it is a nation. Children are born into legions and raised to do battle among the stars. Fighter pilot, merchant, and engineer are all driven by the desire to restore their ancient empire to its former glory, dreaming of a day when the Octavian banner flies across known space. The Octavian legions are governed by the senate, which rules from the transported world of Ares Prime. For the moment, the imperial throne lies vacant. Many commanders and pilots dream of seizing the power of the emperor, but at the moment no faction has the power to enforce its claim. This is a source of constant intrigue in Octavian space, and a drain on energy and resources. If an emperor can gain the full support of the legions, it could herald a new age of Octavian aggression.

History

The history of the galaxy and the nations within it is thick with rumor and legend, fact and fiction. Within these bits of information pilots may find the keys to progress and survival. It is also a living history with stories that have yet to be told and legends that have yet to be discovered.

The Story Once Told

THE SHIFT

Less than a hundred years ago, humanity was locked in battle with a brutal alien force known only as the Conflux. The motivations for the struggle remain a mystery. Conflux ships never acknowledged any attempts at communication, and showed no interests save slaughter. The death toll rose, and stories say that burning planets outshone the stars themselves. Some believe that humanity would have eventually defeated the Conflux; others say that the species was on the verge of extinction. The truth will never be known. As the allied forces gathered around their surviving worlds, a mighty hand reached out from across the galaxy and pulled. This was the Shift, and it changed human destiny forever.

The Shift pulled ships, stations, and even a few planets across the universe. The worlds were scattered across space; even if someone had known where to look, the distance was too vast for sublight travel to be an option. The survivors adapted, but change was inevitable.

The Octavians treasure the memory of their ancestors and their empire, but the old society is lost and a new Octavius has risen from the ashes. Quantar faith splintered in the wake of this cosmic event, and the struggle for survival transformed the Solrain Commonwealth. In time the TRI corporation perfected jump seed technology and restored contact between the nations, creating the network now known as the Skein.

Octavius

Humanity has survived the Conflux War and the Shift, but there are many questions still unanswered. Most archaeologists and scientists believe that the Shift was the work of an alien species known as the Amananth, and that the Shift has pulled humanity to the galaxy that gave birth to this race. Yet the Amananth are long dead. Explorers have found abandoned Amananth stations and ruined starships – ships that appear to have been shattered in battle.

What destroyed the Amananth? Did the Shift save humanity, or simply prolong its destruction?

THE SKEIN

Three decades ago, the TRI Corporation perfected modern jumpgate technology and restored lines of trade and communication between the transported worlds and their new colonies. Moving between sectors at sublight speeds is the work of generations. TRI

Fortunately, placing jumpgates doesn't involve travel to the target sector at sublight speeds. Instead, it's a matter of identifying a spatial anomaly - a "jump seed" - and sending a gatebuilding ship to this point through an existing gate. The seed ship can't return or communicate until the gate is completed, a process which can take weeks. The people who perform this work are known as forerunners. It's dangerous work; if a forerunner team vanishes, there's no knowing whether they were destroyed by hostile forces on the other side or simply lost in transit. Once a gate is established, two-way travel is possible.

Because of this system, civilized space is not a solid mass; it is a set of stones cast over a pool, tied together by quantum thread. This network has come to be known as the Skein. Those sectors with permanent human settlements are said to be part of the Core. In the wake of the Shift, three distinct cultures have come to dominate the Core. Most ships encountered in the Skein owe allegiance to the Octavian Empire, the Solrain Commonwealth , or the Quantar Paths. QuantarThe Hyperial Protectorate was a mighty power before the Shift, and there is a Hyperial station in the Core; however, so far no Hyperial world has been found within the Skein.

TRI is always casting new threads out into the darkness, and any newly discovered or unsettled sector is part of the Edge. It's dangerous to run along the Edge of space, but there's tremendous opportunity for those willing to take the risk. However, many say that there are threats in the darkness far greater than pirates or asteroids.

Has the Conflux finally returned? Or is there be something worse waiting out beyond the Edge?

Through Solrain's Eyes

These are not our stars. Humanity was born far from here, in a place we know only from legend. You have all heard the tales of colonization, of the Great Collapse that split humanity apart and the invention that brought it together again – the Jumpgate.

But these stories have no happy ending. Even as humanity was reunited, the Conflux crawled out of the cracks between the stars and launched a devastating assault on the entire human race. Much about this war remains a mystery, but we know how it ended. As our champions massed for a last stand, our worlds were torn from space and hurled across the universe.

This was the work of the alien race known as Amananth, and their motives remain unclear. Some believe that it was an act of mercy, an effort to preserve some fraction of the human race. Others call it treachery, a way to eliminate a rival power. Whatever the reason, Amananth took one world from each of the four great powers of humanity: Proud Octavius, bold Solrain, mysterious Quantar, and cruel Hyperial.

It was a time of chaos. Fear and isolation sent shockwaves across each world, and when contact was restored, it began with war. The last ten years have seen an uneasy peace, but it grows more strained with each passing day. Many in the Octavian senate call for battle. Hyperial watches from the shadows, and none know its desires. Pirates grow bolder with each day. And worst of all are the ghost stories. There are sectors of space filled with the hulks of massive warships, and shards of worlds that have been broken apart. A war was fought here long before we arrived, a conflict greater than any in human history. There is valuable salvage to be found in the battlegrounds, but it seems there is danger as well. Prospectors have been vanishing in ever-increasing numbers. Some say this is the work of the Conflux, determined to finish the work they began a century ago and a galaxy away. Others fear that it is something even worse – an ancient evil that has been waiting far, far longer than a century.

AmanathIt is year 99 since the Shift. The nations of humanity stand on the brink of war, and I fear that there is a greater danger that threatens us all. This is a time for heroes, for champions willing to explore the dark corners and face the dangers of this age. Our ancestors were not born beneath these stars, but our children will be. Go forth, pilots.

Your destiny awaits.

NetDevil's Jumpgate evolution is a concept that sells itself. Massively multiplayer Wing Commander, anyone? How about some co-operative Privateer? It's a game that combines twitch-action space combat with levels and experience points. It's an excuse to dust off those old flight sticks. You'll even be able to play as a trader, paying more combat-ready players a cut of the action to make sure you make your deliveries safely. Space convoy!

Jumpgate Evolution

How long has Jumpgate Evolution been in development?

NetDevil, the experienced US based MMO developer have been working in MMOs for a number of years, and have recently turned to Jumpgate Evolution in the last two years. This is an ongoing process and the game will continue to be developed for many years to come post release.

What makes Jumpgate unique?

Jumpgate brings together popular elements from all time classics such as Elite, X-wing Vs Tie-fighter and Privateer and combines them in a living, breathing persistent world. Gone are the days of point and click combat, Jumpgate puts the action at your fingertips with fully responsive twitch based controls like never seen in any previous massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMO).

Beyond this Jumpgate is being developed as being an accessible / intuitive game experience providing the soft comfortable learning curve of a new game along with the depth needed for hardcore gamers. Much like World of Warcraft which made fantasy MMO gaming accessible for the masses it is the expectation of Jumpgate to replicate this within the space sci-fi MMO genre.

Can you give us some information on the background lore of the game?

The lore surrounding Jumpgate is something that is constantly being worked on and evolved, as all good stories should. Without going into to much detail and ruining some of the surprises that will come up as you play the game, and a few juicy bits that will be revealed by our community team, I can tell you this much.

There are 3 nations in Jumpgate, all of whom are human and used to live in the Milky Way as one. These were war ravaged times for humanity as they fought a constant battle with the mysterious conflux who were hell bent on destruction of all life and nothing else…there was no reasoning to be had…just a unquenchable blood lust.

With humanity on the verge of annihilation the future looked bleak until there was a massive ‘shift’ and the majority of humanity were flung to the other side of the universe. Away from the Conflux they set about rebuilding themselves and fragmented into 3 differing factions adhering to their own ideals.

Once established they started to reach out further into their new territory, encountering new life amongst the wreckage of long lost alien societies. This semi-peaceful exploration was soon shattered by the re-emergence of the Conflux! Using unstable wormhole technology they started appearing sporadically through out the sector. It is in this unstable time that we join the tale…

Can you give us an overview of NetDevil and their involvement with Jumpgate?

NetDevil are the developers responsible for the creation of the Jumpgate universe, as well as its ongoing development. They are the cornerstone of the project creating the game and server code that will allow players to live out their space fantasies. The team is made of very experienced programmers, artists, technical engineers and producers who will work closely with the team at Codemasters Online to bring the game to market.

NetDevil have great pedigree as one of the few companies that have successfully launched and run an MMO. In addition to Jumpgate they are also working on the Lego MMO.

Can you give us an overview of Codemasters Online and their involvement with Jumpgate?

Codemasters Online was established 3 years ago as part of the larger Codemasters organisation focusing specifically within the area of online games; with a number of titles under its belt; including the phenomenally popular The Lord of the Rings Online in Europe.

Codemasters Online will be responsible for the publishing of Jumpgate across N.America / Europe and will also be operating the game in Europe.

Azure
